Projects

Some activities that I used to enjoy do not currently exist and the place I usually reside is 60 miles away so I have lots more time in a different place and I have been making the most of it. Here in Warwick we have woods and finding Kevin's mountain bike, a 25-year-old Specialized Rock Hopper, has changed my life; although I ride my bike every day on the streets of Brooklyn, I have never spent any time mountain biking and I absolutely can not believe that I was not diehard dedicated to the discipline! It is skiing on wheels!…

Now

It's just now, not forever. My consolation mantra.

Quarantine

It took a week, but I finally understood what quarantine means and what it implied about the indefinite future. It was a stark reckoning.

When this began for us, and we packed up and left Brooklyn, everything was unfurling rapidly -- in the course of a few days we went from normal schedules to everything canceled indefinitely.…

Quarantine

We have settled into our quaranroutine here on the homestead. Mornings are dedicated to schoolwork--I am impressed with how quickly and efficiently PS130 has adapted to the new reality, posting assignments and videos from the homeroom and special subject teachers using the school message board and Google Classroom to stimulate home learning. We have had video calls from their teachers to check in and Miles is loving his everyday karate classes. My work has been disrupted by the fact that being in the same room as anyone else is currently prohibited, so we have pivoted to making videos and hosting…
