Beer

From the first sip of Miller Lite I had at my dad's softball game, I knew beer would be a part of my life forever. It has brought me through high school parties and rugby songs, through awkward social moments and best friends forever proclamations. But it has evolved so much through that time and we have since witnessed a true renaissance of beer alchemy.  Tonight I attended an East Coast introduction of two brews, Lefthand and The Bruery at The Gate and it served as a great reminder of how far we've come in the past 20 years. Sampling…

Blake

He skis in the best spots around the world and documents it all for our benefit. Check out this trailer for his most recent B.C. adventure and his awesome use of Supergood music. It Tastes Like Beautiful...

Lily Allen

Nice work! A great follow-up to "Alright, Still", "It's Not Me, It's You" retains the attitude but kicks the songwriting up a notch. After Mark Ronson lent his stylings to the first album, she worked with a new producer, Greg Kurstin, for this project and the songs are fantastic. I am really glad to see that she has continued to make great music despite the distractions of her very public life. She may behave badly at times, but at least she comes through in the clutch.

When a drag is fun

In celebration of our friends' engagement, we went to watch a drag queen perform at the gay bar Therapy last night. Sitting in the front row, I was obviously a target, but "Shaquita" had me pegged as a minority audience member from the start (baseball cap and beard don't blend in this environment)--constantly taunting me (in a flirty and friendly manner) with her privates (real or pretend). I may not fit into gay culture, but I can definitely appreciate their sense of fun. I love feeling like I can travel exotically within my own city.

The Patterson Brothers

I teach Adam and Michael Patterson (ages six and nine) and they rock! Here is a video we made this week. Look out, Brotnick! Patterson

Compound Error

The worst sort of mistakes are the ones you make because you made an earlier mistake. And worse yet are ones you make on top of those. I call these compound errors and I desperately try to stop myself from making them. Unfortunately, they can be the easiest ones to make. Mistakes happen. If we use them to learn and make better choices, then we become better people. I think the whole point of everything is to be the best you can be and how would you know what that is if you never made the worst choices?

Ethan Brotnick

I teach piano, drums and guitar to six-year-olds and I can definitively say that this is not normal. Ethan plays piano

Play Ball

Even I'm getting tired of the A-Rod lynching that is taking place now; he is taking heat in the New York media like I've never seen before. Can't we just agree that the guy is a lying cheating scumbag and move on? This is the time of year where we should be amping up on spring training-- not some 'roids that this this fool put in his butt five years ago. Admittedly, we've known the guy is a punk for years and I felt some vindication beyond my personal Red Sox-Yankees rivalry issue when the story came out, but let's…

Comments! This site has been far too autocratic for it's entire existence. It is time for democracy (not complete democracy of course, since only I have admin powers, but at least you can have your say now). Please speak freely. I hope that ideas will be shared and supergoodness will swell. Thank you for your patience as I learn this new software. It is incredibly powerful and dynamic, but I am still just an advanced beginner. I hope to make the site sizzle soon.
