Inside Out

Summer came early yesterday and we are enjoying the best weather of the year now, in the 80’s and so appreciated after the past month of monsoon. All of Brooklyn seemed to be in Prospect Park yesterday (and I am sure today) in our annual migratory shift outside. Our lifestyle changes dramatically during this period, from our choice perches to our means of cooking food and our general attitude. We bloom with the trees and flowers in perfect time with the rhythm of life.

I enjoyed your great post about skiing, but am a bit concerned that 6 days later, we have a post about 86 degree temperatures and sunny days in the park. I’m guessing logically the next post will be about global warming?

True. The thing about Mt. Washington (“World’s Worst Weather”) is that it is unskiable in winter, and suitable only for spring conditions. Also, I know that we are still in for some nasty weather, so I probably shouldn’t get too excited about summer when we are due at least a few more days of April showers… Life is like the weather; some rain, some sun and always unpredictable.

Weather is great. I live in a place where there is no weather. I love that you (SJT) get excited about all types of weather. You always celebrate the moment. The position of a given day’s weather within a season or the calendar year is unimportant. Be a hedonistic grillin’ devil when it’s warm and an introspective snow angel when it’s cold and continue to allow us to read the weather report with Stephen glasses.

Ahh yes. L.A. Not no weather, but permanently perfect weather for human existence. I guess it’s all good as long as you appreciate it. It can be hard sometimes, riding my bike to work in cold, driving rain to feel like that’s OK, but I have to remind myself that weather does not just exist for me but for earth and all living creatures…
